I personally request you all Indians, that please help/support Hand Loom Weavers in your location and City/Town/State. Weavers are really in big trouble because of the Covid-19 deadly waves all around in India. The main reason to my request is,
a). They are not fully below poverty, that means they are middle class people.
b). They are self respectful and hard working people, so, they can't choose another work instead of weaving.
c). To weave one silk sari, they need 4 to 5 persons assistance. So, it means weaving work is chain linked.
d). If the head of the family got affected to covid, then no other person can save rest of his family members.
e). Moreover, lac of sufficient demand for hand loom saris caused them to sacrifice their life by suicide.
f). A sari weaving is a big process, It won't be made very easily by one person. This work is a combination of different stages and need skilled labors too.
g). Entire family's financial position is depend upon only on a sale of weaved sari only.
h). The weaver has to think and fulfill his family members dreams/needs by doing this weaving work only.
i). A weaver also a major pillar for Indian Economy. Yearly some crores of business is depend upon only on a weaver.
j). Weavers from different locations and their tradition of weaving are facing the same issue.
Weavers from, Kanjivaram, Dharmavaram, Madanapalli, Yelahanka, Salem, Coimbatore, Pochampally, Sirisilla, Venkatagiri, Uppada, Chirala, Yeola, Kolkata, Varanasi, etc.
All these weavers are facing same issues, so please help them at least purchasing a saree/weaved materials from them.
I am also one of these weavers. So I can understand their pain. If you feel like the same, Try at lease purchasing a material from hand loom weavers at your location.
In this post, I don't have any personal interest to gain something. I am just requesting to all "Indians".
