India is also the largest consumer of silk in the world. The tradition of wearing silk sarees in marriages by the brides is followed in southern parts of India. Silk is worn by people as a symbol of royalty while attending functions and during festivals. Historically silk was used by the upper classes, while cotton was used by the poorer classes. Today silk is mainly produced in Bhoodhan Pochampally (also known as Silk City), Kanchipuram, Dharmavaram, Mysore, Arani, etc. in South India and Banaras in the North for manufacturing garments and sarees.

About us:-
My name is Lakshmi narasimhulu, son of Balam Vishwanatham and my father is the one of my guru in the silk saree manufacturing industry, My father had 40 yrs of experience in silk saris manufacturing field.
We are in the beginning farmers, my father doing cultivation during the days, Rice, Wheat, Vegetables and many more . My parents are going to market and selling the vegetables. At that period there was not enough money to live good life.
After few years, we came to dharmavaram, and my father learn about this handloom saree manufacturing saree and giving good quality of products and quantity also.
In the year, 1969, only shirt peaces or manufacturing and getting labour just Rs. 1.50p per metre ( Khadi bhandar). He could make 20 mtr per day and earns Rs. 30/- per day. That amount was a precious to my family to spend.
In the year, 1970, afterwards, there was 1/2" inch Multi design sarees, without border, are manufacturing and getting Rs. 50/- per saree of labour.
In the year, 1971, one side plain kuttu sarees were made and getting Rs. 150/- per saree as labour. This saree must be completed two days to complete.
In the year, 1972, Double side pure jari kuttu sarees, pure jari plain sarees, pure jari butta kuttu sarees were manufacturing and getting Rs. 150/- for plain , Rs. 200/- for kuttu butta. per saree.
In the year, 1975, Pure jari Broked sarees are manuactured and getting Rs. 300/- per saree as labour and we feel much better for getting good earnings, for manufacturing each saree would took five days.
In the year, 1978, my father married and start more handlooms for more earnings and getting good name for our sarees. Afterwards,
In the year 1993, Dantu design and special designs are came into market and getting upto now 2013 we are making a good collection of sarees.
