There are a few key rituals common in Indian Weddings, Kanyadaan, Panigrahana, and Saptapadi respectively, giving away of daughter by the father, voluntarily holding hand near the fire to signify impending union, and taking seven steps before the fire with each step including a set of mutual vows. They are not only just the traditions involved in the wedding process that culminate in the bonding between two families for generations to come, but an overabundance of clothing too. The grandeur generally exhibited in weddings is through exuberant clothing and the actual process of the wedding. Wearing specific silk sarees during specific ceremonies of the wedding process has invariably became a standard with the underlined feeling, "We need to do this". May be the extra vaganza varies, but the emotion remain the same.
Engagement ceremony:-
This is an important pre wedding ceremony for both bride and groom families on the occasion of confirmation of selection (matching) of bride and groom and the acceptance accord between both the families. Depending on the available good and auspicious dates based on the bride or groom's horoscope, the engagement ceremony is solemnized before the main wedding function with great fervour.
Colorful and designer clothes are in the forefront of this occasion. Normally, a dazzling Indian traditional Dharmavaram Silk saree with Gold gilt touch zari broked weaving looks elegant, classic and yet fashionable.
Haldi Ceremony:-
Indian bridal events are generally kicked off with the Haldi ceremony, in which a thick concoction or paste made from turmeric power, sandalwood powder, oil and water is smeared (applied) on the bride and groom's body as per tradition.
The modern day Haldi ceremony is about following the tradition and culture and has become more of a fun event with all the guests and friends utterly enjoying smearing Haldi on the groom and the bride. During this event, both the bride and groom are given relaxed light Indian traditional silk outfits in shades of yellow to create a charming loom.
Wedding Ceremony:-
The Wedding is conventional proof of bringing the bride and groom into a lifelong relationship, forming a family to carry on the torch of generations. Most of the guests would be decked in embellished bold clothing with emphatic jewellery pieces.
The Wedding saree is regarded as an immaculate possession of a bride, a great remembrance that goes on all the years of the bride's life.
Receiption Ceremony:-
Ideally, the culmination of the Indian Wedding event is through the reception party. It is an event where the couple offers thanks to the guests for their presence, good wishes, blessings and wedding gifts. When deciding on how to dress for an Indian wedding reception ceremony, women have the luxury of choosing from diverse options of Indian traditional outfits for the reception look, like kanjeevaram, Dharmavaram silk sarees.
The Dharmavaram wedding silk sarees are styled differently, just to add more richness to tradition. A beautiful red pink Jangla Dharmavaram hand woven peacock border is considered to be ideal.
